The CD contains Detroit Diesel Reprogramming System 7.11 for performing all diagnostics and programming operations for all 2007 and 2013 model year engines. Special Note: If you load DDRS you CANNOT DDDL 7.07 on the same machine. This CD also contains the latest version of DRS software version 6.46 which will continue to perform all programming operations for DDEC II, III, IV, and V equipped engines as well as MBE modules (VCU software level 11.xx and higher, PLD software level 53 and higher). For performing diagnostics on all pre-2007 engines you should use the latest version of Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link 6.46.

You may now use the Nexiq USB translator to program all pre-2007 DDEC and MBE controllers supported by DRS 6.20. Note that to program PLD modules with the USB Link, you must use the adapter included with the MRS hardware update kit for 2007 or the new MRS 2007 complete reprogramming station.

The DDRS  installation will also install the Detroit Diesel Electronic Tools Suite utility. This program may be run to identify software applications used with the engine you are connected to.

It is extremely important before moving on to the main menus of either DDRS7.11 or DRS 6.15, that you completely familiarize yourself with the information contained in the readme files. This files contains detailed information on the following topics:

 

Detroit Diesel Reprogramming Software 7.11 (DDRS 7.11)

Introducing DDRS 7.11 basic features – This application is the electronic tool for servicing Detroit Diesel’s EPA07, EPA10, and GHG14 equipped engines (S-60, MBE4000, MBE900, DD13, DD15, and DD16). Note: It is not backward compatible with earlier versions of Detroit Diesel electronic systems. Those systems will continue to be serviced with DRS 6.23.The DDEC VI electronics system contains two controllers, the MCM (Motor Control Module) and the CPC (Common Powertrain Controller). The DDEC10 system includes the MCM2+, CPC2+ and ACM2 (After treatment Control Module). The GHG14 system includes the MCM2.1, CPC4, ACM2.1, and TCM (Transmission Control Module). DDRS 7.11 allows the user to perform the following standard operations on both engine platforms:

Translator box / cables requirements - Here are some key general points to remember when connecting to the MCM and CPC with DDRS 7.09:
1 - For DDRS 7.09 the only translator box supported is the Nexiq USB Link (P/N 125032) Translators that support only J-1708 communications like the Nexiq Lite-link and Detroit Diesel’s white translator will not work with DDRS 7.09 under any circumstances.
2 - All 2007 vehicles contain a 9-pin Deutsch connector wired to support both J-1939
/ CAN communications and J-1708 communications.
3 - All operations may be carried out on a vehicle that has both the MCM and CPC properly installed. Note: There must be a CPC
physically present on the vehicle in order for communications to be established with the MCM.
4 - When plugging into the 9 pin Deutsch connector on the vehicle you must use a mating 9-pin connector fully wired to support J-1939 / CAN communications. The old style 6 to 9-pin Deutsch adapter will not work.
5 - Diagnostic adapters that will work with the DDEC VI system include P/N 405048 (6 and 9-pin “Y” adapter) and P/N J-46931, the J1939 9-pin Deutsch Connector that was part of the DDEC V programming station upgrade kit.

Installing DDRS 7.11 –
Note: Before installing DDRS 7.11 you must remove any version of Detroit Diesel’s software to minimize the chance of any conflicts with older versions of the software. Please use the Windows Control Panel’s “Add / Remove Software” option to perform this operation. In order for DDRS 7.11 to work on a PC with the proper hardware and operating system specifications other programs must also be installed. They are:

1 - Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 or higher
2 - Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1
3 - Lizardtech DjVu Control
4 - Proper drivers for your translator box hardware
